I wrote this some 25 years ago and found it on an old tape, so I recorded it anew just to get it down. There is theoretically a bit of a lilt in the bass line, but I can’t keep that straight and sing at the same time. I am slowly figuring out ProTools and hope to be recording multi-track stuff again early in 2012.
I don’t know what is in your love to make you be so unkind
but since you won’t tell me I can only wonder why.
I feel I have no house or home and all that’s left to do is roam
across a city of women and wine; makes me wonder why.
I don’t know if I’m going forward or if I’m falling behind.
Every day I turn away and find less when I return.
It’s no use telling alibis, I’m searching for another’s eyes.
I don’t know how it got this far; makes me wonder why.
I can’t head forward, I can’t turn back; nothing to do but to change track.
Your thoughts are sweet but your voice is flat; makes me wonder why.
